The Common Cave Tutorial represented everything I knew about traditional construction at the time. I put it all out there to forget about it.

I needed to free up brain space to learn the future of construction. In February of 2024, I joined Tinybox Systems as a co-founder.

We prototyped for a year, with the goal of a home in 48hrs.

We built a demo unit, toured it around, and managed to get 8 customers to shake hands on builds that we’d produce as kits over the winter.

This year it was time to deliver on our promises, causing my summer to include the following:

• Knocking on strangers doors to borrow tools at 7pm in the mountains

• Becoming a truck driver in rural Washington for an afternoon

• Sleeping in the Canadian arctic for a weekend

It was crazy. it was hell. it was awesome.

And it resulted in product iteration never before seen in housing.

In 3 months, we built 6 tiny homes, each improving on the one before it.

With 2 builds remaining, we’re now ready to make next years promises.

This time with a bigger team, better product, and a whole lot of improvements to our logistics (no more founder mode in rural Washington).
